Videos of the October Snowstorm

Post thumbnail

I finally got around to downloading the raw image data from a webcam that I installed in the backyard. My original plan was that I could assemble them into a time-lapse video all the way through the snowstorm. As it turned out, we lost power for two days and – for two more days – [...]

The beauty of the snowstorm

DSC_9323e_fs

The recent snowstorm was not just about downed trees, power outages and other minor or major inconveniences. It also created quite beautiful landscapes. Here’s my selection of some of my images/paintings showing local scenes. If you want any of these as prints, feel free to go to my gallery on Imagekind.

A bad year for trees around here

Springfield Tornado

Although the year is by no means over at the time of this posting (November 1st), I am sincerely hoping that this is the extent of tree damage that we’ll see around here (in Western Massachusetts) in 2011. Compared to past years, it surely has been a bad year for (particularly urban) trees. This post [...]

Let’s try weekly tweet summaries instead

That way, if you like to follow my tweets (without being on Twitter yourself), you can find them all in one place and not get annoyed by too many posts. Apologies if that was [...]

Happy Valentine’s day!

I heart U!

I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful Valentine’s Day today. If you are still in need of a (slightly geeky, I admit) card, then go ahead and use the image above (larger image is here). Check it out with your cellphone and see what it says. It’s a bit late for a present today, [...]

Dealing with winter in New England

DSC_4809

Will this winter ever end? New England has so far surely seen an amazing accumulation of snow this season. Every few days, the Boston Globe reports that we have surpassed the annual average snowfall by yet again a few inches. Let’s see when we will finally see soil again. For now, we have yet another [...]

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2011!

The Construction Tree

Now that the year is almost over, it’s time to step back and look at what we all built over the past weeks… Wherever you are and whatever you celebrate, enjoy your holidays and some relaxing time with your families. I wish you all the best for the new year! Cheers, Alex P.S.: Yes, it’s [...]
