Photos – Rheingau (1990-1998)
These are pictures from my original home, the Rheingau region of central Germany. This picturesque area is one of Germany’s main wine-growing areas (mostly the Riesling grape). Nestled amongst rolling vineyards and along the banks of the Rhine are several historic villages, among them Eltville, Erbach, Kiedrich, Oestrich, Ruedesheim, Lorch and others.
I always enjoy going back home during summer and up to wine harvest season. Each weekend there are wine festivals in several villages. On warm summer nights a favorite pastime is also to listen to international classic music performers in historic locations like the Kloster (monastery of) Eberbach as part of the Rheingau Music Festival.

Where is it?
The Rheingau is the section north of the Rhine in Germany between Hochheim am Main in the East and Lorch in the West. Vineyards are located on the sloping banks of the Rhine up to the high-plateaus of the Taunus mountains.
