i was just curious, ... thanks, eric
Eric, good point. Here's what you need to do:

Open the Windows Explorer (click on "My Computer")

Go to the menu item TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS... and select the Tab "File Types"

Find the DWG extension and click on the "Advanced..." button

Highlight "open" in the "Actions:" box and click on the "Edit..." button.

You can then add everything that's mentioned above there and all DWG files should open with your custom actions.

This method, of course, works only if you have access to the file associations, i.e. you are the systems administrator for a lab. If this is your own computer (i.e. you have write access), then it is easier to add everything either to the shortcut or to the options in AutoCAD.

I am sure you can do what I mentioned here simply by modifying the registry, but this method may be safer. At least as safe as you can be when you modify the system...

i was just curious, is there a way to include these switches, or any startup switches in general, to the opening action when you double click a drawing file, ie, instead of creating a shortcut and double clicking that, then opening a dwg file in autocad, i want to double click a dwg file and have it open up in autocad, but still have some switches in place? thanks, eric
